David Judge from Affordable Staff and welcome to our RAW Q&A session around outsourcing. We’ve created these series of videos for businesses that have considered outsourcing and they have genuine questions or concerns they’d like answered. The format? 3 questions and 3 answers around our experience. Ok, now you know how it works, so let’s get into it!

Who does my team member actually work for?

When you employ a team member through us they are a part of your team. At no time do we remove that team member from your team unless you terminate your agreement. This means you can treat them as you would another team member within your business where you can upskill them and generally integrate the staff within your business.

With all of that in mind your team member remains the employee of our business as it ensures all measures we have in place (like the legally binding NDA) protect you and are enforceable. It also allows us to treat your team member as an employee, meaning we can arrange the payment of their sick leave, annual leave, health insurance and other miscellaneous items.

Do they work from home or an office?

All of the team work from an commercial office that offers full time Internet, Power and a professional work environment.

All of these areas are critical if you want to employ the best talent (as a legitimate company is the one where they can actually afford an infrastructure) and power and internet…

This is critical for the client’s team member to run as if they were sitting in the next room.

The other Problem to mention is outsourcing it growing at a rapid rate and as a result there are a lot of ‘Fly By Nighters’ that are emerging that are trying to take advantage that are essentially ripping people off. Good talent are very cautious and will only work for the businesses that they know won’t take advantage of them and yes, Rip Them Off.

I have heard many stories of outsourced people working for multiple clients, how do I know that my team member is working for me and not multiple clients?

Now that’s a really good question as it’s an issue I’ve had before, and one of the reasons we moved to an office.

If an outsourced person is working from home, then you have no idea. Even though you can use software that takes snapshots they could have a second computer where they complete work for other people on the side while working for you.

Our solution was to bring our team into an office, supply them with their own Computer and floor supervisors (that also help with any troubleshooting issues, etc.), use the screenshot software to track their performance and a series of other systems where they book their time to the minute against the tasks they perform.

Our office manager is a part owner of the business in the Philippines (so they have total ownership and responsibility) and If we’re ever really concerned, we also have cameras so we can look at a person as they work along with recorded footage if necessary.

Ok, great, that’s it
