Faith Perez from Affordable Staff and welcome to part 2 of our Ozzie slang challenge.

With our business operating from Australia and our managed office within the Philippines, we’re asking our Philippines team if they know the meaning of a number of commonly used Ozzie sayings.

Many of our team have heard these sayings used from their clients everyday so we’re going to mix it up a little and add a few tough sayings they may not have heard before.

We had a lot of fun in the first challenge so it’ll be interesting to hear the responses from our team today. Ok, let’s get into it!!!

Zonked Out – When you’re very tired


Asher – Is it freak out or something? You’re scared?
Jackie – Like..you’re also very tired?
Jose – Lost?
Elena – Stressed out?
Cindy – …tired? Exhausted?

Chuck a Yewy (You Wee) – To perform a You Turn in your car or bike


Elena – I think it means…aaaah
Cindy – Chug a drink?
Jackie – Clueless. I’m really clueless
Jose – Grab a beer?
Asher – I don’t know

 Get Aggro – Means to get angry


Cindy – Get aggressive?
Elena – Get out of here?
Jackie – Get aggressive?
Asher – Get angry?
Jose – To fight? Be aggressive?

Have a Sanga (Sang-a) – A sanga is a sandwich


Elena – Have a what?…You sing a song?
Jackie – Like, you sing?
Jose – It’s a brand of drink or something?
Cindy – Hmm…have a life?
Asher – Sanga? Is it singing?

Hard Yakka – Is when you work very hard


Jackie – Having a hard time?
Asher – Having a hard time?
Cindy – Hard job?
Elena – I think it means…hard head?
Jose – Hard headed?

Watch the Footy (fudy) – Any type of football that is played in Australia


Jackie – Watch your step?
Elena – Watch your step?
Asher – Take care of the food?
Jose – Watch a movie?
Cindy – Watch a football.
