David Judge from Affordable Staff and welcome to our RAW Q&A session around outsourcing.

We’ve created this series of videos for businesses that have considered outsourcing and have genuine questions or concerns that need answering.

The format? 3 questions and 3 answers based on over 275,000 hours of outsourcing experience.

How much control do I have of the day to day operations of my offshore staff?

When you use our services your offshore team members are dedicated and work just for your business.

Whilst we can help with the integration of your overseas staff, the timing and daily tasks they perform are totally up to you.

Once you’re up and running, our role is to act as a local Australian support between you (the client) and your staff in our overseas office.

What do I do if my outsourced staff need specific software / hardware?

We would normally discuss any specific needs with a new client before we find your offshore staff.

With this in mind as your offshore team grows and you business develops it’s common to want to make changes to your overseas operations. For example, we have clients that will start with 1 team member and then add more team members to handle other parts of their business.

In these instances we work with you ‘the client’ on those changes and the additional hardware / software that is required. We also discuss the best options of sourcing the parts locally or importing into the country, along with associated costs of those parts.

How much effort should I put into ongoing upskilling of my outsourced staff?

Let me ask… how much effort do you place into upskilling a local team member within your business?

While offshore staff are in a different physical location, they still require the same education and upskilling as a local team member.

There may be an instance where a person will require specific knowledge at the employment stage (for example knowledge on Australian Taxation Law). In this case we would hire a person based on the base level of knowledge required.

Once integrated into your business, offshore team will require the same level of upskilling as a local team member would. As I said before, the ONLY difference is they are in a different physical location.

Ok, that’s it
